Lady Rams’ losing streak continues after loss to Spring Hill

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State Lady Rams saw their losing streak extend to seven games on Saturday afternoon. ASU was feisty with Spring Hill College all day but came up short, losing 54-47.
 
With the loss, the Lady Rams are now 1-13 overall and 1-4 in the SIAC. The Lady Badgers improve to 6-5 and 2-1.
 
In the low scoring duel, Albany State found itself behind 12-9 at the end of the first quarter. ASU only scored nine more points in the second stanza and trailed 26-18 at intermission.
 
In the second half, the Lady Rams' cold-shooting continued, and Spring Hill held a 39-30 lead after three periods. ASU did outscore their visitors 18-15 in the final quarter, but it was unable to capitalize on opportunities down the stretch.
 
Elesha Foster recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Zuri Frost added 10 points, five assists and four rebounds. Tyra Thompson had 13 rebounds.
 
The Lady Rams shot 18-of-61 (29.5%) from the field, 3-of-11 (27.3%) from three-point range and 8-of-18 (44.4%) from the free throw line.
 
Jewel Hill led a balanced Spring Hill attack with 11 points and six rebounds. The Lady Badgers shot 14-of-50 (28%) from the field, 2-of-10 (20%) from three-point range and 24-of-37 (64.9%) from the free throw line.
 
Albany State will return to action on Monday, Jan. 9 when it hosts Clark Atlanta University. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
