Lady Rams Softball drops pair Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Albany State women's softball saw its three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Valdosta State. ASU was defeated in a doubleheader by scores of 11-1 and 8-1. With the pair of losses, the Lady Rams fall to 13-27 overall.
 
The Lady Blazers improve to 30-9.

After Valdosta State took a 1-0 edge after the first inning, ASU tied the game after Toni Coleman belted a homerun in the top of the second inning.
 
However, the Lady Blazers scored five runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-1 lead. VSU added another run in the fourth and four more in the second to pull away from the visitors. The game ended after the fifth inning.
 
Coleman recorded two of the team's three hits. Tiffany Massey was the losing pitcher.
 
Valdosta State 8, Albany State 1
 
Albany State fell behind 2-0 after the third inning but managed to cut their deficit in half in the top of the fourth. Maye scored off a Lady Blazer error to generate a 2-1 score.
 
Valdosta State used the fifth inning to its advantage. The home team scored six runs in the bottom of the stanza to ward off the Lady Rams rally.
 
Coleman and Massey each collected two hits for ASU. The team had six hits, but committed five errors during the game. Ambrionna Atkism took the mound loss.
 
The Lady Rams will travel to Americus, Ga. on Monday, April 11 to face Georgia Southwestern. Game times are set for 4 and 6 p.m.
