Golden Rams ousted from SIAC Tournament by Miles

OZARK, Ala.- The Albany State baseball team will not repeat as SIAC tournament champions. Unfortunately, ASU's championship bid ended on Friday afternoon after a 7-4 loss to Miles College in a game played at Historic Eagle Stadium.
 
With the loss, the Golden Rams, the top seed from the SIAC East Division, finishes the season with a 17-35 overall record. #2W Miles (30-16) advances to play Paine College in the tournament's loser's bracket.
 
After the two teams battled to two scoreless innings, Albany State began its scoring in the top of the third inning. Bryant Prather hit a single to score Trevor Billings for 1-0 lead.
 
ASU added another run when Kelvin Wimbish scored off a Miles throwing error. Prather went home courtesy of Cody Fleck's single, and the Golden Rams led 3-0. Miles scored a run of its own in the bottom of the inning.
 
In the top of the sixth inning, Reise McDaniel belted a single that sent Payton Dixon home for a 4-1 advantage. However, the Golden Rams were unable to hold on to their lead. Miles scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to eliminate ASU from the tournament.
 
Billings finished the day 3-of-5 at the plate. McDaniel was 2-for-4, and Fleck was 2-for-3. ASU had 11 hits and three errors as a team. DaMarkus Green was the losing pitcher.
