Lady Rams get revenge with win over FVSU

FORT VALLEY, Ga.- Artisha Holston recorded 16 points and a game-high 19 rebounds to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 63-46 win over archrival Fort Valley State. With the victory, ASU avenges an earlier Feb. 6 loss (65-63) to the Lady Wildcats and improves to 13-12 overall record and finishes the SIAC schedule with a 13-4 mark.

FVSU falls to 10-15, 9-6.

Albany State would begin its path to redemption with an early first quarter lead. The Lady Rams used their stingy defense to take a 17-6 first stanza edge.

The team was able to pull away in the second period. A three-pointer by Holston at the 3:08 mark provided Albany State with 36-15 advantage. ASU's led 39-25 at halftime.

In third quarter, the Lady Rams continued to dominate their archrival. Deborah Hoe's layup with 1:57 left in the period gave Albany State its biggest lead of the game at 53-31. The Lady Wildcats did outscore ASU 14-10 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to get back into contention.

Zuri Frost and Keidra Green each finished with 15 points for Albany State. Frost also had four assists.

The Lady Rams shot 23-of-59 (39%) from the field, 7-of-16 (43.8%) from three-point range and 10-of-18 (55.6%) from the free throw line.
