Lady Rams split twin bill with Rollins College

ALBANY, Ga.- The Albany State Lady Rams were able to gain their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon. ASU outlasted Rollins College in the first game to win 3-0 before falling 6-0 in the nightcap.
 
With the split, the Lady Rams improve to 1-3 overall. Rollins is now 3-2-1 on the season.

The two teams were both stubborn on the defensive side of the ball.  Both squads had runners in scoring position on multiple occasions, but neither could send them home to generate the offense at the plate thanks to outstanding defensive plays.
 
Toni Coleman's opportunity in the bottom of the sixth inning would be decisive in the contest. She belted a three-run homer to right field to score Brishanti Weaver, Ambrionna Atkism and herself. The Lady Rams were able to hold the Tars scoreless in the top of the seventh inning to secure to win.
 
Coleman recorded two hits and three RBIs for Albany State. Ambrionna Atkism (1-1) was the winning pitcher for ASU.
 
The Lady Rams collected five hits as a team and committed one error.

Rollins returned the favor in the second game by shutting out the Lady Rams. The Tars opened the game with a run in the top of the first inning, and added five between the fourth and fifth innings to take the advantage.
 
Malea Maye had two of the three hits for Albany State. She also had two stolen bases. Tiffany Massey (0-2) was credited with the mound loss.
 
Albany State will return to action on Monday, Feb. 15 when it hosts Brewton Parker College in another doubleheader. The scheduled times for the games are 1 and 3 p.m.
