Golden Rams ousted by Tuskegee University

TUSKEGEE, Ala.- Khaliq Hughes scored a team-high 13 points, but the Albany State Golden Rams could not complete a season sweep of Tuskegee. ASU was defeated by the Golden Tigers 79-55 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Albany State is now 4-20 overall and 3-13 in the SIAC. The team also registered its third straight loss.

Albany State fell behind early in the contest. Tuskegee took advantage of the Golden Rams' cold-shooting to build a double digit lead only eight minutes into the game. ASU trailed 40-24 at intermission.
 
Things only got worse for the visiting team in the second half. The Golden Rams still had difficulty generating offense, shooting a dismal 28.6% from the field. At the 9:16 mark, Albany State fell behind by 30 at 68-38.
 
Devontay Ward scored 12 points, Kelderion Miller netted 11, and Malik Dungee added 10. Earl Farnum and Jayson Snearl each had nine rebounds.
 
The Golden Rams shot 19-of-58 (32.8%) from the field, (18.8%) from three-point range and 14-of-20 (70%) from the free throw line.
 
James Eads scored a game-high 15 points to lead Tuskegee. Austin Cherry added another 12.
 
Albany State will return home on Thursday, Feb. 18 when it host the Stillman College Tigers at ASU HPER Gymnasium. Stillman won the first encounter 96-52 on Dec. 5. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
