Golden Rams beat Georgia College in rematch

Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Sophomore guard Michael Green scored a career-high 30 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to the lead the Albany State Golden Rams to a 94-86 win over Georgia College. The Bobcats won the Nov. 22 meeting 63-49.

With the victory, ASU improves its overall record to 3-4. Georgia College falls to 5-3.

In the pulsating contest, Albany State only trailed in the opening minutes of the first half. Michael Green hit his first of five three points to give his team a lead they would never relinquish. Green's layup at the 11:49 mark gave ASU a 20-9 edge.

With ASU leading 32-19, Georgia College trimmed the visitors' lead to 35-24 with 2:43 left in the first half. When halftime arrived, the Golden Rams led 44-38.

In the second half, the Golden Rams continued to lead and hold off the GC rallies. Georgia College was able to cut their deficits to one on a few occasions, but ASU was stop the runs with timely baskets from a variety of players. Khaliq Hughes' dunk and free throws with four seconds left placed the exclamation point on the win.

Brandon Hudson scored 15 points, and Randy McClure added 13 points and four rebounds. Devontay Ward recorded 12 points, and Hughes tallied 11 points and six assists.

The Golden Rams shot 35-of-64 (54.7%) from the field, 9-of-14 (64.3%) from three-point range and 15-of-23 (65.2%) from the free throw line.

The Bobcats were led by Garrick DeBowles, who scored 22 points. Desmond Mitchell-LaFlam netted 15 points and added five rebound. Chaz Berry added 14 points and five rebounds, and Austin Dukes had 10 points.

Georgia College shot 29-of-63 (46%) from the field, 9-of-21 (42.9%) from three-point range and 19-of-24 (79.2%) from the free throw line.

Albany State will return to action on Friday, Dec. 9 when it hosts Edward Waters College at ASU HPER Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
