VALDOSTA, Ga.- The Albany State women's basketball team did not find victory in their second game of the season. Playing its final game in a tournament at Valdosta State University, ASU fell to the University of West Florida 109-67.

With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 0-2 overall, while UWF improves to 2-0.

Albany State fell behind early and never could get back into contention. The Lady Rams trailed 29-14 after the initial quarter and found themselves behind 54-30 when halftime arrived. ASU could never make a serious run to close the gap, as the team was outscored 55-37 in the second half.

Zuri Frost led Albany State with a game-high 23 points and six rebounds. Ashely Johnson added 10 points, and Elesha Foster had eight points and five rebounds.

The Lady Rams shot 21-of-69 (30.4%) from the field, 1-of-13 (7.7%) from three-point range and 24-of-31 (77.4%) from the free throw line.

West Florida was led by Imani Mulmore, who finished the game with 20 points and five rebounds. Toni Brewer recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds. Shaniqua Magee, 15, Katie O'Neal, 12, and Alex Coyne, 10 also reached double digits in scoring.

The Lady Argonauts shot 32-of-63 (50.8%) from the field, 9-of-20 (45%) from three-point range and 36-of-45 (80%) from the free throw line.

Albany State will return to action Nov. 18-19 when it travels to Fort Valley, Georgia to participate in the SIAC-Peach Belt Challenge at Fort Valley State University. ASU will play Columbus State University on Friday at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Rams will meet Georgia Southwestern State University at 4 p.m.
