Lady Rams trounced by Kentucky State in SIAC play

ALBANY, GA- The Albany State Lady Rams lost their first SIAC conference game of the season on Monday afternoon. ASU dropped a tough contest to the Kentucky State Lady Thorobreds by the score of 80-48. The loss drops the team's record to 3-9 overall and 3-1 in the SIAC.
 
Kentucky State, the top team in the SIAC West Division, improves to 8-3, 3-1.
 
Albany State trailed early after the first quarter. After a fast-paced period, the Lady Rams only trailed 23-19. By halftime, ASU was behind 36-29.
 
The third stanza proved to be Albany State's downfall. KSU outscored the home team 23-9 to build a commanding 59-38 advantage heading into the final period. Kentucky State also dominated with last quarter with a 21-10 edge. KSU led by as many as 38 points.
 
Kyasha Wilson was the lone Lady Ram to score in double figures. She had 13 points.
 
Albany State shot 17-of-61 (27.9%) from the field, 2-of-8 (25%) from three-point range and 12-of-19 (63.2%) from the free throw line.
 
Kentucky State was led by Logan Powell game-high 21 points. Alexis Stallard added 12 points, and Shaia Horton had 11. The Lady Thorobreds shot a blistering 56.6% from the field and hit a total of 12 three-pointers.
 
Albany State returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 7 when it travels to Jackson, Tenn. to face the Lane College Lady Dragons. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. (central time).
