Golden Rams fall to Benedict on the road

COLUMBIA, S.C.- Jordan Floyd scored a team-high 14 points, but the Albany State Golden Rams could not hold on to knock off the SIAC East Division leader. ASU lost a tough road contest to Benedict College 56-48. With the loss, the Golden Rams fall to 3-15 overall and 2-8 in the SIAC.

Benedict improves to 13-6, 8-2.

The two teams engaged in a low-scoring affair in the first half. Recording several lead changes, Albany State and Benedict battled to a 21-21 tie at halftime.

In the second half, the Golden Rams were able to build an advantage. A jumper by Floyd at the 12:41 mark gave ASU a 38-30 lead. After that, Albany State went cold from the field, and Benedict was able to regain the lead at 43-42 with 6:18 left to play.

With the Tigers leading 47-42, Keldreion Miller made a three-pointer to cut the Golden Rams deficit to two with 2:19 remaining in regulation. However, they could not get any closer. Benedict made enough free throws the rest of the way to negate the ASU comeback.
