MOBILE, Ala.- Artisha Holston recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 56-48 win over Spring Hill College. ASU improves to 5-9 overall and 5-1 in the SIAC. Spring Hill falls to 5-9, 3-2. After the two teams battled to a 13-13 tie after the first quarter, Albany State held a slim 12-8 edge in the second stanza to take a 25-21 lead at halftime. The Lady Rams led 39-34 after three quarters.
In the fourth period, ASU held it largest lead of the game, 52-43, with 2:05 left in regulation. That advantage was enough to keep the Lady Badgers at bay. The home team could not get closer than five points the rest of the way.
Kyasha Wilson added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Rams, who shot 21-of-49 (42.9%) from the field, 2-of-7 (28.6%) from three-point range and 12-of-23 (52.2%) from the free throw line. Albany State's defense forced 25 turnovers. Jennifer Clark led Spring Hill with 14 points, which included four three-pointers.
Albany State returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 14 when it travels to Augusta, Ga. to face the Paine College Lady Lions. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
