Golden Rams’ season ends with loss to Lynn

Livingston, AL- Senior Ryan Latner completed his final game with two hits and two runs, but the Albany State Golden Rams were defeated by Lynn University 16-4 in the 2015 NCAA Baseball South Region Tournament. With the loss, ASU, who started the season with a 1-16 record and rallied to win the SIAC tournament title, finishes the season with a 20-34 record. Lynn improves to 35-14-1 overall and advances in the tournament.
 
Albany State scored first on an RBI ground out by
Terrence Worthy that scored Latner for a 1-0 lead. Lynn used the top of the third inning to score three runs and take a 3-1 edge. ASU answered with another run in the bottom of the inning when Latner belted a double to send Reise McDaniel home, and the Golden Rams trailed 3-2.
 
As Albany State struggled to find a consistent pitcher, Lynn started to take advantage. The Fighting Knights used big scoring innings in the fifth and seventh to pull away from the Golden Rams and take a 16-2 lead. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Golden Rams got their final two runs when
Herron Gardner's single scored Latner, and Issac Wilkerson's hit sent Gardner home.
 

Cullen Coulter (6-8) was the losing pitcher for the Golden Rams, who collected six hits and committed one error.
 
Seniors Allen Hardy, Hector Carrasquillo, Uwem Udofia, Coulter and Latner all played their final game for ASU.
