Golden Rams fall to Valdosta State

Albany, Georgia- Ryan Latner, Terrance Worthy, and Reise McDaniel each had two hits, but the Albany State Golden Rams lost to Valdosta State 15-4. With the loss, ASU falls to 13-28 overall. VSU improves to 22-13.
 
For five innings, the game was a close one. Valdosta State scored runs in the first, second and fourth inning to build a 4-0 lead.
 
Albany State began its rally in the bottom of the fourth inning. After Hector Carrasquillo, Worthy, and Jonatan Galan each hit singles, Sable Gilliard belted a triple to score all three and cut the team's deficit to 4-3. Gilliard later stole home to tie the score at four.
 
However, the Blazers reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth inning when they scored two more runs. VSU pulled away with five more runs in the sixth and four additional in the eighth.
 
Gilliard finished with a hit and three RBIs. DeMarkus Green took the mound loss.
 
The Golden Rams collected 12 hits and committed one error for the game.
 
Albany State returns to action on April 11-12 when it travels to Orangeburg, South Carolina to face the Claflin University Panthers for a three-game SIAC series. Claflin won the last series 2-1 in March. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 12 p.m.  Sunday's game will begin at 1 p.m.
