Golden Rams fall to Stillman in SIAC tourney, will compete in final game

Columbia, S.C.- Jonatan Galan recorded two hits and an RBI, but the Albany State Golden Rams lost in the first championship game to Stillman College by the score of 6-3 in the 2015 SIAC Baseball Tournament. With the loss, ASU does not win the SIAC title on its first try, but has another opportunity on Tuesday, April 28th when it faces Stillman again at Capitol City Stadium.
 
The Golden Rams are now 19-32 overall, while the Tigers improve to 14-20.
 
Albany State found itself behind early. Stillman was able to produce its first five runs in the top of the fifth inning. The Golden Rams scored a run in the same inning when Reise McDaniel hit a single to send Allen Hardy home.
 
In the third inning, ASU added another run when Galan hit his second homerun of the tournament to cut the team's deficit to 5-2. Another run in the seventh inning brought the Golden Rams within two, 5-3. Stillman added a run in the top of the eighth inning, and Albany State could not score again to complete its rally.
 
Hardy added two hits for the Golden Rams. Allen Fender was the losing pitcher. He had six strikeouts on the day.
 
ASU collected nine hits, but committed four errors.
 
First pitch for tomorrow's final game is scheduled for 12 p.m.
