Lady Rams fall to archrival Fort Valley State

Albany, GA- The Albany State Lady Rams were unable to take the first game of their three-game series with archrival Fort Valley State. ASU, the SIAC East Division's top team, dropped a 5-1 decision to the Lady Wildcats, who are currently in second place.
 
With the loss, ASU falls to 15-28 overall and 14-3 in the SIAC. FVSU improves to 11-20, 11-5.
 
Albany State scored its only run in the bottom of the first inning.  That's when Anria Peterson hit a double to score LaKymbreyia Davis for a 1-0 lead. However, the Lady Rams went cold from the plate after that, and Fort Valley State took advantage.
 
The Lady Wildcats scored two runs apiece in the top of the second and third innings to take a 4-1 edge. FVSU added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning, while the Lady Rams could not muster a rally.
 
Davis recorded the only other hit for ASU. Lopez was the losing pitcher.
 
Albany State returns to action on Saturday, April 18 when they host Fort Valley State in a doubleheader. The games are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m.
