Lady Rams Softball nips Winston-Salem State

Albany, GA- Ambrionna Atkism and Anria Peterson each collected two hits to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 2-0 win over the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams. ASU improves to 5-5 after the victory, while WSSU falls to 3-9.
 
The two teams engaged in a scoreless contest until the bottom of the fourth inning. Peterson hit a double to score Atkism, and Albany State had a 1-0 lead.
 
ASU added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Toni Coleman connected for her second homerun of the season to help ASU take a 2-0 edge over its guests from the CIAA. WSSU could not get its bats swinging to make a serious run at Albany State.
 
Alexa Lopez was the winning pitcher for ASU.
 
Albany State will return to action March 12-14 when it travels to Jasper, Alabama to participate in the 2015 SIAC Women's Softball Crossover Tournament. Opponents and game times will be confirmed by Tuesday afternoon.
