Lady Rams advance to the SIAC semifinals

Birmingham, AL- Ieshia Young scored 14 of her team-high 18 points in the second half to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to 68-62 victory over the Stillman Lady Tigers in the 2015 SIAC Tournament. With the win, ASU, the SIAC East Division's #2 seed, advances to the semifinal round where they will Kentucky State (West's #1).
 
The Lady Rams have won 11 straight games and improve to 17-9 overall. Stillman completes its season with a 10-18 record.
 
Albany State struggled in the first half with scoring, turnovers, and foul trouble. As a result, the Lady Rams fell behind 23-12 at the 4:39 mark. Sierrra Foster's four straight points cut the team's deficit to 30-25 with 19 seconds left in the stanza. Stillman got a basket right before the buzzer to take a 32-25 edge at intermission.
 
In the second half, Albany State fell behind by double figures again, 38-28, with 17:54 left in regulation. ASU then went on a 10-0 run to tie the score six minutes later. The Lady Tigers responded with a 5-0 spurt to regain the lead at 43-38 midway through the half.
 
After tying the score again with nine minutes left, the Lady Rams took the lead for good when Young made a layup with 8:49 left in regulation. ASU continued to pull away from Stillman and made some late free throws to put the Lady Tigers completely away.
 
Artisha Holston recorded her 15th double-double of the season with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Keidra Green added another 15 points.
 
The Lady Rams shot 22-of-49 (44.9%) from the field, 2-of-6 (33.3%) from three-point range, and 22-of-39 (56.4%) from the free throw line.
 
The semifinal game between Albany State and Kentucky State will be played on Saturday, March 7 at Bill Harris Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. central time.
