Golden Rams Baseball’s losing streak increases to six after losses to Tuskegee

Albany, Georgia- The Albany State Golden Rams rallied in both contests, but the team could not overcome SIAC foe Tuskegee University. The Golden Rams dropped a pair of games to the Golden Tigers 6-3 and 9-5. With the losses, ASU falls to 7-25 overall and 4-6 in the SIAC. TU improves to 8-10, 6-1.
 
Game 1: Tuskegee 6, Albany State 3
 
Tuskegee scored a run in the top of the second inning and two more in the top of the third to take an early 3-0 lead. Albany State continued to go scoreless until the sixth inning when they scored three runs to tie the game.
 
Ryan Hickox hit a sacrifice to send Allen Hardy home to score ASU's first run, and Hector Carrasquillo followed with a single that sent Jeremy Arrington to the plate. Carrasquillo tied the game when he scored off a baulk.
 
In the seventh inning, Tuskegee took advantage of two Albany State errors to score three runs and regain the lead. The Golden Rams could not make another run in the bottom half of the inning.
 
Hardy led Albany State with two hits. Sahir Fersobe was the losing pitcher. The Golden Rams collected six hits and committed three errors.
 
 
Game 2: Tuskegee 9, Albany State 5
 
Tuskegee opened the game by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Albany State would answer with two runs of its own when Arrington hit a two-run homer following Hardy's triple. In the bottom of the second, ASU tied the game when Nick Bruner hit a single that sent Terrance Worthy home.
 
The Golden Tigers scored another run in the top of the third inning and two more in the top of the fourth to take a 6-3 advantage. Ryan Latner belted a single in the bottom of the fourth to score Bruner to close the gap to 6-4.
 
TU added three more runs in the fifth and seventh innings, and the Golden Rams could only score one more for the rest of the game.
 
Arrington connected for two hits to lead the team offensively. Fontayne Washington took the mound loss. Albany State recorded 11 hits but also committed five turnovers.
 
Albany State returns to action on March 28-29 when it travels to Augusta, Georgia to face Paine College in a three-game weekend series. The doubleheader on Saturday will begin at 12 p.m. Sunday's single game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
