Albany, GA- Ieshia Young and Jillian Anderson each scored 12 points to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 61-53 win over the Paine College Lady Lions. With the victory, ASU has won sixth straight games (10 out of its last 11), and improves to 12-9 overall and 11-3 in the SIAC. Paine falls to 8-14, 6-8.

Albany State jumped out to a 12-3 lead after the first six minutes of the game. Paine used a 7-0 run to cut its deficit to 12-10 at the 12:23 mark of the first half. The Lady Rams held a 29-24 advantage at intermission.

In the second half, ASU continued to hold the lead until Brianna Sims hit a jumper to put Paine ahead 44-43 with 7:09 left in the game. Less than a minute later, Kyasha Wilson answered with a basket to put Albany State back in front 45-44. The Lady Rams did not allow the Lady Lions to regain the lead the rest of the way.

The Lady Rams shot 19-of-56 (33.9%) from the field, one-of-four (25%) from three-point range, and 22-of-31 (71%) from the free throw line. The team forced Paine into 23 turnovers.

Albany State returns to action on Thursday, February 12 when they travel to Orangeburg, South Carolina to take on the Claflin Lady Panthers. The Lady Rams won the initial meeting 65-52 back in January. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
