Lady Rams Volleyball falls to Claflin in SIAC East Division title game

ALBANY, Ga.- Brittianni Phillips recorded 15 kills, but the Albany State Lady Rams did not claim this year's SIAC East Division title. ASU dropped a 3-1 (25-21, 13-25, 20-25 and 17-25) decision to the Claflin Lady Panthers on Senior Day. With the loss, the Lady Rams finish the regular season with a 15-12 overall record and 13-5 in the SIAC.
 
Claflin, winners of the SIAC East Division for the third straight year, improves to 15-11, 13-3. The Lady Panthers defeated Albany State 3-2 in a match on Oct. 22.
 
Chelona Holmes added seven kills for the Lady Rams, and setter Tiffany Roesler had 32 assists. Kaliah Carter led the team defensively with a game-high 15 kills. Seniors Roesler and Carter played in the final home game of their careers.
 
Albany State is idle until it travels to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the 2015 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament Nov. 18-20. Game times and the tournament bracket will be released next week.
