Lady Rams Volleyball falls to Kentucky State at SIAC Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Justice Howard recorded seven kills to lead the team, but the Albany State Lady Rams dropped a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18 and 25-17) decision to Kentucky State University in the second round of the 2015 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament. With the loss, ASU (16-14 overall) falls into the loser's bracket where it will face Tuskegee at 3 p.m. (central time) today.
 
Kentucky State (23-12), the top seed from the SIAC West Division, advances in the winner's bracket to face SIAC East champion Claflin.
 
Brittianni Phillips had six kills, and setter Tiffany Roesler recorded 16 assists. Kaliah Carter and Chelsae Bryant led the team defensively with nine digs apiece.
 
Kitrice Ploucha and Payton Richardson led KSU with 10 kills apiece, and setter Angelique Kyle had 34 assists.
 
In other action today, #2W Tuskegee eliminated #3W Stillman from the tournament with a 3-1 win. #4E Benedict ended #4W Miles' season with a 3-0 victory. Claflin also defeated #3E Clark Atlanta 3-0 to advance in the winner's bracket.
