Lady Rams defeat Clark Atlanta

ALBANY, Ga.- Kristen Randolph, Brittianni Phillips and Chelona Holmes each reached double figures in kills to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18 and 25-23) victory over the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers. The win gives ASU an overall record of 11-10 and a 9-3 mark in the SIAC. The Lady Rams have won four straight games and six of their last seven.

Randolph and Phillips led the ASU domination at the net with 12 kills apiece, and Holmes added another 11. Setter Tiffany Roesler recorded a game-high 38 assists to go with her six digs. Team defensive specialist Kaliah Carter led the team with 15 digs, while Jakishma Soto added another nine. Soto also had five kills and three block assists.
 
Cori Smith was the top offensive player for the Lady Panthers with a game-high 14 kills. She also had four digs. Briana Aldridge led the team defensively with six digs.
 
The Lady Rams will be idle until Tuesday, Oct. 19 when they host archrival Fort Valley State University. ASU already owns a 3-0 win over FVSU this season after a match on Sept. 21.
 
The ASU Department of Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will recognize the contest as its annual "Think Pink" Game. All fans are asked to wear pink to show support for Breast Cancer survivors and research. The contest is set to begin at 6 p.m.
