Lady Rams win season finale against Tuskegee

Box Score
ALBANY- Sophomore Keidra Green scored 14 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead the Albany State Lady Rams to a 59-52 victory over the Tuskegee Tigerettes in a non-conference matchup. With the win in the season finale, ASU finishes the regular season with a 19-5 overall record. Tuskegee drops to 16-10.

Albany State took advantage of their defense and Tuskegee's cold shooting to build a large lead in the first half. After trailing 2-0, the Lady Rams went on a 12-2 run to take a 12-4 at the 11:46 mark. With the Tigerettes struggling to make a basket, ASU was able to build a 29-14 edge at intermission.

In the second half, Albany State rested its starters and top subs. Tuskegee made a small run, but it wasn't enough to make a serious challenge at the Lady Rams.

Kourtney Alexander added 10 points to join Green in double figures.

Albany State shot 20-54 (37%) from the field, 7-18 (38.9%) from three-point range, and 12-21 (57.1%) from the free throw line. The Lady Rams held Tuskegee to 36.5% shooting and outrebounded the team 36-34.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Wednesday, March 5th when they travel to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the 2014 SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament. As the SIAC East Division champion, Albany State will be the number one seed from that side. They will face the winner of the contest between the fourth place West team and fifth place East team. All SIAC tournament games will be played at the Bill Harris Arena. Bracket information will be released later this week by the conference.
