Golden Rams get road win at Morehouse

Box Score ATLANTA, GEORGIA- Larry Bullock and Jamorris Gaines each scored 13 points to lead the Albany State Golden Rams to 76-68 victory over the Morehouse Maroon Tigers. With the win, ASU improves to 12-12 overall and 9-7 in the SIAC. Morehouse falls to 7-15, 4-10.

Albany State took an early lead thanks to an early rebounding advantage, solid defense and outside shooting to take an advantage in the first half. After James Lodman, Jr. hit two free throws to give his team a 33-26 at the 4:21 mark, the Golden Rams took a commanding lead.

A pair of three-pointers by Bullock gave ASU a 39-28 lead with 2:53 left in the half. Rachard Lofton's basket with 1:19 remaining put Albany State ahead 41-29, a lead it would take into intermission.

In the second half, the Golden Rams were able to build their largest lead of the game. Doug Storey hit another trey to put the team ahead 57-42 with 11:06 left in regulation. A 9-0 by the Maroon Tigers cut their deficit to 57-51 with 9:13 left to play.

Leading 68-62, Darshtyn Baker made a three-pointer before the shot clock expired to give the Golden Rams a 71-62 lead with 1:34 left in the game. ASU was able to hit enough free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Gaines led the Golden Rams with six rebounds, while Bullock was 4-5 from three-point range. Storey added another 11 points, including three three-pointers.

Albany State shot 24-49 (49%), 12-20 (60%) from three-point range and (69.6%) from the free throw line. The Golden Rams held Morehouse to 36.2% shooting from the field.

The Golden Rams will join the Lady Rams on Saturday, February 22nd when they host archrival Fort Valley State in the teams' annual homecoming celebration. Game times are slated for 6 and 8 p.m. General admission is $15 and $10 for children 13 and under.

The game is also designated as "A Black Out" Fans are encouraged to wear black in support of the basketball programs.
