Lady Rams Softball drop pair to Columbus State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALBANY- The Albany State Lady Rams could not pick up their first wins in their second home doubleheader of the season. The Lady Rams dropped a pair of games to the Columbus State Lady Cougars by the scores of 14-2 and 5-0. With the losses, ASU falls to 0-8 on the season.


Game 1: Columbus State 14, Albany State 2


Albany State faced an early deficit after Columbus State scored six runs in the top of the first inning. Dominique Bryant's solo homerun in bottom of the inning made the score 6-1.

The Lady Cougars increased their lead as the game progressed. CSU scored a run in the top of the second, three in the top of the fourth, and four in the top of the fifth to take a 14-1 lead. Kayla Alexander did hit a homerun in the bottom of the fifth, but ASU couldn't score any more runs. The game was called in the fifth inning.


Ambrionna Atkism recorded the mound loss for Albany State. The Lady Rams recorded two hits and an error for the game.


Game 2: Columbus State 5, Albany State 0


The Lady Rams collected more hits in the second game, but they were unable to score any runs. Columbus State scored two runs in the top of first inning and added a run in the third, fourth and sixth to account for their final score.


Infielder Maya Malea led the Lady Rams with two hits. Chelsea Hicks took the mound loss for Albany State.


ASU recorded seven hits and committed two errors for the game.


The Lady Rams return to action on Wednesday, February 19th when they face archrival Fort Valley State at Lady Ram Park. Game times for the doubleheader are 1 and 3 p.m.
