Lady Rams fall to Tuskegee

Box Score TUSKEGEE, ALABAMA- Senior guard Amber McKenzie scored 16 points, including three three-pointers, and pulled down seven rebounds, but the Albany State Lady Rams lost to the Tuskegee Tigerettes, 59-55. With the loss, ASU falls to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in SIAC play. Tuskegee improves to 5-5, 1-0.

In a low-scoring duel, Albany State was able to hold a slight advantage in the first half. Despite some cold shooting, the Lady Rams led 20-13 with 8:41 left before halftime. They still led 25-21 at intermission.

In the opening minutes of the second half, an 8-0 run by the Lady Rams provided a 34-25 advantage with 16:40 remaining in the game. However, the Lady Rams went cold from the field again and could not maintain the lead. Tuskegee took the lead for good, 46-44, with 6:07 left in the game.

Sophomore recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Albany State. Kedeemya Cooper came off the bench to score 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Rams shot 19-55 (34.5%) from the field, 3-12 (25%) from three-point range, and 14-23 (60.9%) from the free throw line. Albany State outrebounded Tuskegee 47-38 and forced the Tigerettes into 19 turnovers.

The Albany State Lady Rams will return to action on Thursday, January 9th when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to face the Stillman College Lady Tigers. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. (central time).
