Lady Rams drop road game to Claflin

ORANGEBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA- Sophomore guard April Thomas scored a game-high 34 points, but the Albany State Lady Rams fell to the Claflin University Lady Panthers 74-71.  With the loss, the ASU falls to 8-14, 6-8 in the SIAC.  Claflin improves to 4-19, 3-11.
 
The score was close throughout the first half.  Led by Thomas’ 18 first half points, the Lady Rams were able to take a 30-28 lead into halftime.  The game continued to be close throughout the second half until Claflin went on a second half run to take to take its’ largest lead of the game at 61-54 with 6:51 left to play.  A 5-0 run by Albany State cut its deficit to 61-59 with 5:33 left.  However, timely baskets by Claflin down the stretch kept the Lady Rams from making a final push towards victory.
           
Kedeemya Cooper added 13 points for the Lady Rams.  Talaya Robinson led Claflin with 22 points.
