Box Score Senior guard Justin Wilcox scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Albany State Golden Rams to 69-64 win over the Paine College Lions at ASU HPER Gymnasium.  With the victory, the Golden Rams improve to 3-11, 2-6 in the SIAC, while Paine drops to 6-9, 4-4.
 
The first half provided a lot of excitement for both teams.  The lead switched back and forth on several occasions before the Lions took a 35-32 advantage into halftime.  In the second half, the Lions led by as many as six points on three different occasions.  With Paine leading 44-38 with 14:10 remaining in the game, The Golden Rams went on a 7-0 run capped by Andrew Covin’s offensive rebound and layup to take a 45-44 lead with 10:17 left to play.  Paine was able to recapture the lead and led 52-50 at the 7:47 mark.  However, Wilcox hit a three-pointer at the 7:00 mark to give ASU a 53-52 lead they would never relinquish.  The Golden Rams were able to use pressure defense and timely shooting down the stretch to hold off the Lions and claim victory.
 
Senior guard Jaren Harris added 17 points and three assists for the Golden Rams.  Covin led ASU with six rebounds to go along with seven points.  Sophomore forward Justin Udi scored eight points.  Kedric Taylor and Allen Young each scored 15 points for Paine.
 
Albany State returns to action on Saturday, January 26th at HPER Gymnasium when they take on the Claflin University Panthers.  Tip-off time is slated for 3 p.m.
