Justin McDowell joins the Albany State University football staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach, bringing with him a strong background in player development, offensive strategy, and mentorship. With coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels, McDowell has developed a reputation for his work ethic, leadership, and ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes.

Before joining the Golden Rams, McDowell served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Fort Lewis College, where he worked primarily with tight ends and the offensive line. His responsibilities included implementing daily position-specific drills, assisting with offensive game planning, breaking down game film, and mentoring players both on and off the field. He also spent several years coaching at the high school level in Florida, including successful stints at Gaither High School, Robinson High School, and Wharton High School, contributing to multiple district championships and team improvements.

A former offensive lineman and tight end at Midland University, McDowell earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport and Leisure Management from the University of Memphis. He brings a player-first mentality, a deep understanding of the game, and a passion for developing student-athletes as both competitors and individuals. As a Graduate Assistant at Albany State, McDowell will play an integral role in supporting the continued success and growth of the football program.
