Christopher Myers enters his first year as the Director of Athletic Communications at Albany State University, effective August 10, 2026.
Myers brings 26 years of experience in university athletic communications, with a background spanning operations management, public relations, media relations, strategic content development, project coordination, and staff development. He most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Myers Remote Communications Services, where he provided athletic communications services for multiple institutions, including serving as the Remote Director of Athletic Communications at Fort Valley State University from January 2024 through March 2025. In that role, he managed athletic communications, the athletic website and social media accounts, media requests, written communications, and communication department needs.
Prior to his work with Myers Remote Communications Services, Myers served as the Director of Athletic Communications at Fort Valley State University from September 2018 through January 2024. He managed multiple projects, provided leadership during times of crisis and organizational change, developed relationships with internal and external stakeholders, created digital content, coordinated interviews and information requests, developed marketing strategies, and helped organize athletic department events.
Myers also served as the Sports Information Director and Adjunct Professor at Wheeling Jesuit University from March 2015 through August 2018. His responsibilities included compiling statistical data, working with university and external organizations, securing media coverage, producing promotional materials, collaborating on branding initiatives, and organizing special events. He also has experience as a Sports Information and Communications Specialist at Humboldt State University and as a Sports Editor for The Punxsutawney Spirit.
Throughout his career, Myers has developed extensive experience in media relations, content development, social media management, operations management, strategic planning, crisis management, logistics, and staff development.
A native of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Myers earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Education in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg University.
