Albany State University Director of Athletics, Dr. Kristene Kelly, announced the hiring of Demetri Wilson to the Golden Rams staff as the Coordinator of Football Operations on July 13, 2024.
 Wilson brings a wealth of experience to Albany State. Last season, he served as the Director of Recruiting Operations for the Fresno State Football program, where he was involved in operations, recruiting, academic monitoring, player development, and scouting. Before Fresno State, Wilson was West Virginia football's Assistant Director of Recruiting Communications. With the Mountaineers, he was responsible for developing the recruiting communication plan, ensuring coaches had all the relevant information needed to fulfill the duties required in the player acquisition process of a prospective student-athlete. With direction from the recruiting staff, he planned the weekly recruiting communication strategy and organized the plan for recruiting from the Mountaineer football office. Prior to West Virginia, Wilson was on staff in Florida, where he was a player personnel and recruiting assistant with the Gators. During his time in Gainesville, he provided recruiting assistance, worked with the defensive backs, and assisted in player evaluation and identification of potential prospects.
Before Florida, he was the assistant director of recruiting at Eastern Illinois, providing recruiting assistance to the head coach, assistant coaches, and recruiting coordinator. Serving as the portfolio manager for the defense, he organized the recruiting boards and was involved in all aspects of Eastern Illinois football recruiting. Wilson started his career at Northwestern Oklahoma State, where he was an assistant defensive line coach in 2017-18 before becoming the director of player personnel, player development, and on-campus recruiting coordinator in 2019-20. He was named the NWOSU Ranger Recruiter of the Year in 2018. While managing the offensive and defensive recruiting boards, he also directed player services such as enrollment, financial aid, housing, transportation, off-campus living, and academic advising. He played on the offensive and defensive line at Northwestern Oklahoma State from 2012-17, earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2018 and a master’s in education and administration in 2020. Â
Demetri is the son Of Clayrinski and Akiko Wilson and has one son named Clayton Wilson. 4 Siblings Traquez, Clayon, Brandon, and Eldrick. Clayon Wilson is currently front office admin support at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp while also operating as the Club Director at Starlings Coastal Georgia Volleyball Club. Brandon Wilson is the Defensive Line Coach and Equipment Coordinator at Rocky Mountain College.
