William Chunn

William Chunn works with the linebackers of the Golden Rams squad.

A 1981 graduate of Brinkley High School in Brinkley Arkansas, Chunn came to Albany State as a football player from Coahoma Jr. College in Clarksdale, Miss. He played two seasons for the Golden Rams in 1983, and was a member of the Golden Rams' first SIAC championship team in 1984.

A former head football coach at Monroe Comprehensive High School, Chunn is entering his 27th season as a coach on the high school and collegiate levels.

During his coaching tenure, he has coached a number of outstanding players, including all-time Albany State great Antonio Leroy and Super Bowl XXXIX MVP Deion Branch, of the World Champions New England Patriots.

He has coached with Albany State since 1985, when the Golden Rams won an SIAC championship.

Chunn received his associate's degree in Health and Physical Education from Coahoma Junior College in 1983; bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Albany State College in 1986, his master's degree in public administration from Albany State University in 1997, and his educational specialist degree in public administration from Albany State University in 2004.

He is an administrator in the Dougherty County School System, where he has served as principal at Westover High School since 2008. He is a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

He is married to the former Thelma Brown of Madison, Ga. She is a 1988 graduate of Albany State College and they have three children, Bill, Taylor and Ashley.
