Steven Smith enters his fifth year as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Albany State football program. Prior to joining the Golden Rams again, Smith made many coaching stops at a number of levels of college and professional football.

In 2011, Smith held the position of run game coordinator/offensive line coach at Tennessee State University where he tutored three offensive linemen to all-conference honors. Prior to his stop at Tennessee State, Smith spent two seasons at Albany State (2009-10) as the school’s offensive coordinator/offensive line coach and prior to that served as run game coordinator/offensive line coach at Delta State (2007-08).
    
Smith also had coaching stops in NFL Europe as the offensive line coach for the Rhein Fire (2006) and running backs coach for the Frankfurt Galaxy (2005). Prior to spending time in NFL Europe, he spent two seasons coaching the offensive/defensive lines for the Detroit Fury (2003-04) of the Arena Football League and was the offensive line coach and special teams assistant for the Carolina Rhinos (2002) of Arena Football 2.
    
Smith completed offseason NFL coaching internships with Cleveland (2011), Miami (2008), Dallas (2003-06) and New Orleans (2002). He broke into the coaching ranks in 2001 tutoring the quarterbacks at Virginia State.

Smith played fullback at Southern Illinois (1995-98) and Langston (1994). He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois.

Born in 
Chicago, Illinois, Smith is married to the former Courtney Cambric, and they have a son Justin. In addition, Smith's other children include Aaron, Tyler, Jourdyn, Tyson, Cyanne and Miram.
