Athletic Academic Support Services
The Office of Athletic Academic Support Services (AASS) at Albany State University is committed to assisting all Golden Ram student-athletes in reaching their full potential in and outside of the classroom. Being a student and an athlete can be a juggling act. The mission of AASS is to help student-athletes balance the two and provide a comprehensive support system that facilitates academic success, personal achievement, and professional development.
AASS staff assists all student athletes in making satisfactory academic progress and maintaining eligibility by providing comprehensive academic support. Serving as the liaison between the ASU Athletics Department, coaches, and faculty members, AASS staff monitors academic progress through interim reports and close communication with faculty members regarding missed class time related to team travel and competition. AASS staff work cooperatively with every possible department to assist student-athletes in the areas of class scheduling, academic advising, academic mentoring, academic monitoring, athletic study hall, degree progress, freshman orientation and transition, tutorial programs, at-risk student policies, and career development. In doing so, ASU student-athletes build the necessary skills and tools to graduate, become leaders in the community, and lead productive lives after their careers at Albany State conclude.
The goals of AASS are to support the recruitment, retention, and graduation of Albany State University student-athletes and to instill a commitment to excellence and lifelong learning. AASS also assists student-athletes in developing an educational plan consistent with life goals and objectives.
