ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's volleyball team will officially open its home slate Sunday afternoon when the Golden Rams welcome Benedict College to the Jones Brothers HPER Complex.
First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m., with Sunday's match designated as a White Out as Albany State encourages fans to pack the HPER and wear white.
The Golden Rams return to action carrying momentum from a strong showing at the SIAC Crossover, where Albany State finished the weekend 3-1 in conference play.
Albany State opened the crossover with a five-set victory over Tuskegee before sweeping Kentucky State later that day. The Golden Rams continued their strong weekend with a straight-set victory over Central State before closing the event against Spring Hill.
Freshman outside hitter Amiria Anderson has emerged as one of Albany State's top offensive threats. Anderson totaled 47 kills across the four matches at the SIAC Crossover, highlighted by a 22-kill performance against Tuskegee. Her performance helped earn her SIAC Newcomer of the Week honors.
Several Golden Rams have contributed to Albany State's early conference success. Jarianis Perez continues to make an impact on both sides of the ball, while Shaniya Banks has provided production at the net. Setters Trinity Britt and Liannette Burgos have helped direct the Albany State offense, while Myra Lopez has been a key part of the Golden Rams' back row.
Sunday provides Albany State with its first opportunity of the season to defend its home court in front of Ram Nation. The Golden Rams will look to carry their conference momentum into the matchup with Benedict and continue building as SIAC play moves forward.
Fans attending Sunday's home opener are encouraged to wear white and help create a White Out inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex.
