ALBANY, GA— Albany State University sophomore Brea Vann has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week following her standout performance at the Willie Laster Invitational.

The Smyrna, Tennessee native continued her strong start to the 2026 season by leading the Golden Rams with a third-place overall finish, crossing the line in 19:49.60 at Radium Springs Park in Albany.

Vann finished behind only two runners from NCAA Division I Florida A&M, making her the highest-finishing runner in the field outside of the Rattlers. Her performance helped propel Albany State to a second-place team finish, trailing only FAMU in the final team standings.

Vann has established herself as one of the Golden Rams' top runners early in the season as Albany State continues its pursuit of a third consecutive SIAC Women's Cross Country Championship.

Vann and the Golden Rams will return to action Friday, Sept. 18, when they travel to compete in the UNG Invitational.
