Albany, Ga. — Albany State battled hard on the road but fell 106-86 to Spring Hill College on Saturday in Mobile, Ala. While the Golden Rams came up short, the team displayed flashes of offensive firepower and individual excellence, highlighted by standout performances from
Shakur Poteat,
Jeremiah Edwards, and
Kendale Johnson.
Poteat led the way with 25 points, shooting 8-of-18 from the field and connecting on three three-pointers, while adding six rebounds and three assists. Edwards provided a strong complement with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, knocking down a three-pointer and converting five free throws. Johnson chipped in 15 points, going 3-of-9 from deep and hitting all six of his free throws. The Golden Rams shot a season-best 80 percent from the free-throw line (20-of-25) and knocked down 37 percent of their three-point attempts, keeping the pressure on the Badgers throughout the game. Albany State also forced multiple turnovers and generated 21 fast-break points, showcasing their athleticism and transition speed.
Despite the scoreboard, Albany State gained valuable momentum from the second-half surge, shooting over 50 percent in the final 20 minutes and demonstrating the offensive versatility that has fueled the team all season. The bench contributed 14 points, helping sustain energy and intensity late in the contest.
