ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State University volleyball standout Amiria Anderson has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Newcomer of the Week after helping the Golden Rams complete an unbeaten weekend at the SIAC Crossover.
Anderson provided an efficient offensive presence throughout Albany State's victories over Miles, Lane and LeMoyne-Owen, finishing the weekend with 21 kills, 13 digs, two block assists and 22.5 points.
Anderson delivered her biggest performance against Miles, recording 12 kills with just one attack error on 21 attempts for a .524 hitting percentage. She also added eight digs and a block assist in the four-set victory. asu vs miles
She continued her efficient play against Lane, finishing with five kills on eight attempts and hitting .500 as Albany State swept the Dragons in three sets.
Anderson wrapped up the weekend with four kills, three digs and two block assists in the Golden Rams' straight-set victory over LeMoyne-Owen.
Across the three matches, Anderson posted a .429 hitting percentage while helping Albany State improve to 8-1 in SIAC play.
Anderson and the Golden Rams return home Tuesday night for a rivalry showdown against Fort Valley State at 6 p.m. inside Jones Brothers HPER Gym.
