Albany State Volleyball Ranked No. 2 in Inaugural BCSN HBCU Division II Rankings

ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's volleyball program continues to make its presence felt on the national stage, earning the No. 2 ranking in the inaugural Black College Sports Network (BCSN) HBCU Volleyball Rankings, released this week.

The rankings recognize the top HBCU volleyball programs across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA, with results reflecting competition through October 18.

The Lady Golden Rams earned a score of 76.20, finishing just behind No. 1 Fayetteville State (76.63). West Virginia State (75.51), Livingstone (75.32) and Virginia State (66.95) rounded out the top five.

The recognition highlights Albany State's continued success on the court and the program's commitment to establishing itself among the nation's premier HBCU volleyball programs.

Head Coach Verniece Graham praised her student-athletes for their dedication while emphasizing that the program's ultimate goal remains winning championships.

"Being recognized among the top HBCU volleyball programs is a testament to the hard work, discipline, and commitment our student-athletes demonstrate every day. At Albany State University, we are building a culture of excellence that extends beyond the court. We understand that success is earned through preparation, mental toughness, and the ability to compete at a high level against quality opponents. We are proud to represent ASU and the SIAC, but we also recognize that this is another opportunity to keep growing, stay hungry, and continue raising the standard for Albany State volleyball. Our goal is not simply to be ranked among the best, but to compete for championships," said Graham.

The national recognition comes as Albany State continues to build momentum during the 2026 season. The Lady Golden Rams have demonstrated resilience, consistency and determination throughout their campaign, establishing themselves as a formidable presence in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

While the No. 2 ranking represents another milestone for the program, the Lady Golden Rams remain focused on finishing the season strong and competing for a SIAC championship.
