Atlanta, GA – In a game that came down to the final seconds, the Albany State Golden Rams suffered a heartbreaking 70-68 loss to Tuskegee University in the SIAC Quarterfinals at Forbes Arena. With the defeat, the Golden Rams fall to 18-12 overall and 14-7 in SIAC play, while the Golden Tigers advance to the semifinals. Despite the loss, Albany State remains in contention for postseason play in the regional tournament.
The Golden Rams struggled early, falling behind 38-30 at halftime as Tuskegee capitalized on second-chance opportunities. Sesberry was unstoppable, scoring a game-high 28 points for the Golden Tigers. However, Albany State roared back in the second half, improving their shooting to 42.9% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc.
The game featured eight lead changes and seven ties, with both teams battling until the very end. With the score tied at 68-68 in the final moments, Tuskegee's Kevin Sesberry delivered the game-winning layup with just 10 seconds remaining. The Golden Rams had one final shot to force overtime or win the game, but
Shakur Poteat's three-point attempt was blocked as time expired, sealing Tuskegee's victory.
A clutch three-pointer by Evans with 3:00 left put ASU up 66-64, but Tuskegee responded with a fast-break layup and another inside basket from Kusamae Draper, regaining the lead. Evans tied the game at 68 with two free throws, setting up the dramatic final sequence.
