This Week in Albany State Athletics: Unleashing the Spirit of Competition!

Albany, Ga.- It's an exciting week for Golden Rams Athletics as multiple programs showcase their competitive spirit! The Albany State Women's Soccer team travels to face the University of North Georgia on Wednesday, October 8, at 5 p.m., then returns for Senior Day against Middle Georgia State on Saturday, October 11, at 7 p.m.

The Women's Cross-Country team competes in the Warhawk Invitational in Decatur, while the Lady Golden Rams Volleyball team heads to Memphis for the SIAC West Cluster Crossover Tournament (Oct. 10–11). Finally, the Golden Rams Football team hosts Clark Atlanta University on Saturday, October 11, at 1 p.m. for their Breast Cancer Awareness Game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

GAME PREVIEW: Lady Golden Rams Set for Road Test at North Georgia, Return Home for Senior Day Showdown
The Albany State University women's soccer team gears up for another competitive week as they prepare to face one of the top programs in the Peach Belt Conference before returning home for a special Senior Day matchup.

The Lady Golden Rams open the week on the road in Dahlonega, Georgia, to take on the University of North Georgia Lady Nighthawks on Wednesday, October 8, at 5:00 PM. North Georgia (9-0-1, 5-0 PBC) comes into the midweek matchup unbeaten and riding high after a narrow 2-1 victory over Lander this past weekend. The Lady Nighthawks currently hold a 5-0 series lead over Albany State, and the Golden Rams will look to turn the tide with a strong showing on the road.

Later in the week, the Lady Golden Rams return home to the ASU Soccer Complex for Senior Day and Officials Appreciation Day on Saturday, October 11, at 7:00 PM, hosting Middle Georgia State in a non-conference matchup. The last meeting between the two programs saw Albany State fall 0-2, and the Rams are eager to even the score in front of their home crowd. The Albany State University women's cross-country team returns to action this week as they travel to Decatur, Georgia, to compete in the Warhawk Invitational hosted by Calhoun Community College. The meet promises to be an exciting showcase of endurance and talent as the Lady Golden Rams continue to sharpen their pace and push for stronger finishes midway through the season.
 
Last week, Albany State turned in a solid performance at the Georgia Tech Cross Country Invitational, placing 9th overall in a competitive field of Division I and II programs. Freshman standouts Brea Vann and Faith Thompson once again led the way for the Golden Rams, clocking impressive times that continued to establish them among the top runners in the conference.

As they head into the Warhawk Invitational, the Lady Golden Rams are focused on improving their times and maintaining consistency across the lineup. Facing a mix of strong regional competitors, this week's meet will be another valuable test as the team builds toward championship season.

PREVIEW: Lady Golden Rams Set for SIAC West Cluster Crossover in Memphis
The Albany State University women's volleyball team is back on the road this week, heading to Memphis, Tennessee, to compete in the SIAC West Cluster Crossover Tournament. The Lady Golden Rams will look to bounce back and regain their winning rhythm after a hard-fought 2-3 loss to rival Fort Valley State over the weekend.

Tournament play opens for Albany State (7-9, 6-1 SIAC) on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. as they take on Lane College, followed by an 8:00 p.m. matchup against LeMoyne-Owen College. The Lady Golden Rams will wrap up tournament action on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with a showdown against perennial conference powerhouse Spring Hill College.

Under the direction of Head Coach Verniece Graham, Albany State enters the tournament as one of the top teams in the SIAC East Division and will look to maintain its strong conference standing with another solid weekend performance.

PREVIEW: Albany State Set to Host Clark Atlanta for Breast Cancer Awareness Game on ESPN+
The Albany State Golden Rams return home to The Coliseum this weekend for a highly anticipated Breast Cancer Awareness Game, hosting the Clark Atlanta University Panthers on Saturday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m. The matchup will be featured live on ESPN+, adding national visibility to one of the most meaningful games of the season as the Golden Rams honor survivors and remember those lost to breast cancer.

The Golden Rams (4-1, 3-0 SIAC) enter the weekend riding a wave of momentum after a commanding 47-6 victory over Lane College, extending their unbeaten conference streak. Under the leadership of Head Coach Quinn Fordham Gray Sr., Albany State has displayed balance on both sides of the ball.

Meanwhile, Clark Atlanta (2-3, 1-2 SIAC) comes to Albany looking to rebound from recent setbacks and challenge an ASU squad that has dominated the series in recent years. The last meeting between the two programs was on September 24, when Albany State delivered a 35-0 shutout victory in Atlanta.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness as the Golden Rams look to continue their strong conference play. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., and kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at the ASU Coliseum.
