Lady Golden Rams Sweep Day 1 at the SIAC West Cluster in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Albany State University women's volleyball team delivered a statement performance on Day 1 of the SIAC West Cluster Crossover Tournament, going undefeated with a pair of dominant victories. The Lady Golden Rams swept both Lane College and LeMoyne-Owen College in straight sets to improve to 9-9 overall and 8-1 in SIAC play.

In the opening match against Lane, Albany State set the tone early with strong offensive execution and efficient serving, taking the match (25-12, 25-16, 25-22). Jarianis Perez led the attack with 11 kills, while Shaniya Banks and Josiya Teague added seven and six kills respectively. Kaylin Teasley and Myra Lopez kept the pressure on from the service line with four and three aces apiece. Liannette Burgos paced the offense with 14 assists, and Lopez and Talia Smith anchored the defense with seven digs each.

The Lady Golden Rams carried that momentum into their second match of the day, dismantling LeMoyne-Owen (25-8, 25-15, 25-12) behind a balanced and energetic team effort.
Teasley and Jayda Watson each notched seven kills, while Maya Ogbogu added six. Natalie Onozie was impressive both setting and serving, finishing with 13 assists and four aces.

Defensively, Lopez once again led the back row with 11 digs, and Ogbogu controlled the net with three blocks.

Albany State's consistent teamwork and depth were on full display, as the Lady Golden Rams continue to climb the SIAC standings.

Up Next: The Lady Golden Rams will wrap up tournament play on Day 2 with a 12:30 p.m. matchup against Spring Hill College as they look to close out crossover competition on a high note.
