Albany State Set to Battle Savannah State in Key Conference Matchup

Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams (5-3, 5-1 SIAC) head to Savannah for a pivotal conference clash against the Savannah State Tigers (4-4, 3-3 SIAC) on Saturday, November 2. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Theodore A. Wright Stadium, with Senior/High School Band Day festivities adding to the game-day atmosphere.

ASU enters the contest fresh off a high-powered 42-34 victory over Edward Waters, bolstered by standout performances on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Isaiah Knowles, a redshirt sophomore, leads the Golden Rams offense, which has gained momentum as the season progresses. Knowles will go head-to-head with Savannah State's graduate quarterback Jhaydon Sullivan, promising an exciting matchup between two skilled field generals.

Savannah State comes into Saturday's game following a heartbreaking 27-28 loss to Lane College during their homecoming, leaving the Tigers hungry for redemption. However, Albany State holds the upper hand historically, boasting a 4-1 series lead dating back to 2011. Their most recent victory over Savannah State was a 15-12 win last September, where the Golden Rams showcased their grit with a decisive defensive effort. Savannah State last defeated ASU in 2019 with a 35-19 win, marking the Tigers' only victory in the series to date.
