The Albany State University Golden Rams (3-1) and the Miles College Golden Bears (1-3) will play in a key SIAC matchup on Saturday, October 1. The game will kickoff at 2:00 pm at the Albany Municipal Coliseum in Albany, Georgia.
The Golden Rams and Golden Bears met twice during the 2021 football season. The Golden Rams defeated the Golden Bears (31-3) during the regular season on Saturday, October 2, in Fairfield, Alabama. The Golden Rams and Golden Bears also met in the 2021 SIAC Championship Game on Saturday, November 13, in Fairfield, Alabama. The Golden Rams defeated the Golden Bears (31-0) at Sloan-Alumni Stadium to win the SIAC Championship for the first time since 2013 and avenged the team's championship game losses to Miles in 2018 and 2019.
Last Saturday, the Golden Rams defeated the Clark-Atlanta Panthers (35-0) in their
SIAC opener. The Golden Rams finished with 402 yards of total offense. Dionte
Bonneau was 10-15 passing for 114 yards and 1 touchdown.
Bonneau also had 5 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Kam Ward had 11 carries for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Golden Rams.
Ralph Lovett finished with 3 catches for 64 yards.
Joe Shorter had 5 catches for 48 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively, the Golden Rams held the Clark-Atlanta Panthers to 225 yards of total offense.
The Miles College Golden Bears won their first game of the season after defeating Central State (34-14). The Golden Bears used a strong rushing attack and great defense to defeat the Marauders for Sam Shade's first win as the head coach. Zarious Keyes ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns while starting quarterback Jacob Keller threw for two more scores
