ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's basketball team suffered a tough 63-58 loss to the Badgers of Spring Hill College on Friday afternoon.
Chelsea Hill and Kierra York led the Golden Rams with contributing 14 points each respectively.
Gemiya Bowman finished with adding eight points.
Both teams started the contest battling for the lead with the score being tied twice in the first five minutes of the contest. The Golden Rams then took a 12-9 lead with 3:38 left in the first quarter. ASU finished the first quarter with a 14-12advantage. The Golden Rams then added 16 points in the second quarter to take a 30-17 advantage over the Badgers at the half.
The Badgers answered in the third quarter securing a three pointer to cut ASU's lead 36-31 with 5:44 left. Spring Hill then tied the score on a layup at the 2:53 mark. The Badgers then closed out the quarter taking a 44-41 lead. The Badgers used the same momentum in the fourth quarter to adding 19 points to take the 63-58 victory.
On the afternoon, the Golden Rams shot 36-percent and grabbed 14 offensive boards of its 21 team total.
ASU will return to action on Saturday morning as they take on the Badgers of Spring Hill College. Tip-off is set for 11:00 a.m.
