JASPER, Ala. – The Albany State University softball team open the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball crossover tournament falling to the Dragons of Lane College 7-2 this afternoon at Memorial Park.
Albany State sits at 3-15 overall and 2-2 in the SIAC.
Glory Seay and
Rebecca Blanton went 2-for-3 with recording two RBI's, while
Mikiayah Harris also went 1-for-2. Sydeny Pettus and
Mikyah Graham went 1-for-3.
In the opening game, Lane College jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the Dragons secured two doubles and adding two runs. Lane then added one run in the top of the fifth innings. The Dragons then added two runs in the top of sixth inning to take a 6-0 lead.
Rebecca Blanton singled down the left field line to bring
Sydney Pettus and
Jaylyn Norman across home plate to cut LC's lead, 6-2. Lane added its final run in the final inning to collect the 7-2 victory.
Lauren Lowery pitched three innings in the contest only allowing seven hits and two runs.
Sydney Hopkins finished up on the mound with throwing four innings only allowing 10 hits, five runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
The Golden Rams finished the contest with seven hits to the Dragons 17.
The Golden Rams will return to action later today as they face the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University at 5:45 p.m. (CST).
