HOOPS CENTRAL: Albany State at Fort Valley State University

 ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's and men's basketball teams returns to the court on Saturday, February 15th as they travel to Fort Valley, Georgia for a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against the Wildcats of Fort State University. Tip-off is set for 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. inside HPE Complex.

The women's basketball team enters the contest (4-17, 2-11 SIAC) falling to the Tigers of Savannah State University 85-53 on Monday, February 10th.

Seven different players scored points for Albany State, with senior guard Ciera Norman (Lincolnton, Georgia) leading the team with 17 points in the loss. 
 
Savannah State opened the game secured a 11-6 lead in the first five minutes, but the Golden Rams continued to fight adding points. The Tigers took a 24-9 lead entering the second quarter.

SSU never allowed ASU to get any closer and held the Golden Rams to just 10 points in the second quarter to head into halftime ahead 42-19. Savannah State continued to add to its lead in the second half and squashed any attempts by Albany State to get back into the contest.

ASU was limited to a 20 of 58 (34 percent) shooting performance from the field in the loss, while the Tigers managed to convert 31 of 60 (51.7 percent) attempts. Savannah State also head a 49-to-22 advantage on the glass.

The Golden Rams enters the contest (13-10, 10-4 SIAC) yielded a 69-59 decision to the Tigers of Savannah State University on Monday, February 10th.
 
The Tigers opened the game with a 10-9 lead five minutes into the first half. Albany State took the lead with 6:06 to play in the period on a three by Kamil Brown. SSU then regained the lead 39-34 with 1:37 left on the clock. The Tigers led 41-34 at the break. 

The teams battled and exchanged baskets for the first eight minutes of the second half. Savannah State grew its lead 59-48 with 8:05 left in the game. Albany State University cut Savannah State's lead 67-57 with 1:34 to go in the contest. A dunk by Napoleon Harris closed out the scoring for the Golden Rams but wasn't enough for the Tigers to cruise to a 69-59 victory. 

Mario Young and Kamil Brown finished with 14 and 12 points respectively, while Napoleon Harris added 10 points and seven rebounds and Young finished with five rebounds.
