SAVANNAH, Ga. (Feb. 10) - The Albany State University women's basketball team was handed an 85-53 loss by Savannah State University on Monday evening.
Seven different players scored points for Albany State, with senior guard
Ciera Norman (Lincolnton, Georgia) leading the team with 17 points in the loss.
Savannah State opened the game secured a 11-6 lead in the first five minutes, but the Golden Rams continued to fight adding points. The Tigers took a 24-9 lead entering the second quarter.
SSU never allowed ASU to get any closer and held the Golden Rams to just 10 points in the second quarter to head into halftime ahead 42-19. Savannah State continued to add to its lead in the second half and squashed any attempts by Albany State to get back into the contest.
ASU was limited to a 20 of 58 (34 percent) shooting performance from the field in the loss, while the Tigers managed to convert 31 of 60 (51.7 percent) attempts. Savannah State also head a 49-to-22 advantage on the glass.
The Golden Rams will look to get back on track this Saturday, February 15 when they face rival Fort Valley State University at 6:00 p.m.
