ALBANY, Ga. – The No. 1 seed Albany State University Golden Rams fell to Kentucky State University 3-0 in the opening round of the 2019 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Championship on Thursday afternoon.
Impressive work offensively and defensively by both team kept the game scoreless in the first seven innings of the contest. Kentucky State University then took a 3-0 lead in the top of the eighth inning off the bat of Olivia Stewart with a single up the middle. KSU's Sasha Allen then singled through the left side to add its final run of the contest. Despite a late rally by the Golden Rams but wasn't enough as KSU cruised to a 3-0 victory.

Aryn McGowan was on the mound for ASU pitching all eight innings only allowing seven hits, three runs, two walks and 10 strikeouts of the 37 batters faced.

Jala Stewart led the Golden Rams going 3-of-4 from the plate.
The Golden Rams outhit Kentucky State University 8-7.
