ALBANY, Ga. (March 24, 2019)– The Golden Rams softball team collected the weekend series victory over Benedict College in a SIAC softball matchup on March 23-24
th.
Albany State won the first game 6-4 by scoring four runs in the last two innings. The Golden Rams took the second game 6-2 as
Glory Seay hit a pair of home runs.
Jalia Stewart went 3-for-3 with one run in the first game.
Aryn McGowan went 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Mikiayah Harris,
Keychelle Evans,
Lavette Tucker,
Glory Seay and
Megan Shepherd all added a run each for the Golden Rams.
In the second game, the Lady Tigers fell behind 3-0 in the first inning on a three-run homer by Seay.
Erika Dargan had a solo homer for the Lady Tigers in the top of the second inning. The Golden Rams when plated three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the victory.
Glory Seay led the Golden Ram going 2-for-3 with two runs and 4 RBIs.
Game 3: Albany State 7, Benedict College 6
Albany State scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Benedict 7-6 in a SIAC softball game on Sunday afternoon.
Albany State completed the three-game conference series sweep to improve to 13-21 overall and 10-2 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 11-14 overall and 4-5 in the SIAC.
The Golden Rams scored four runs in the second inning for a 4-0 lead. Benedict answered with three runs in the fourth. The Lady Tigers took a 6-4 lead in the fifth with a three-run homer by BC's
Marshallnae Bell. Albany State scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a pair of doubles to come away with the victory.
